The clays and claystones of the Brník plant are bound to freshwater Cenomanian sediments. They are kaolinitic with varying iron content, mainly in the form of pyrite. The range includes clays and claystones with a high clay mineral content, as well as sandy porous clays. The raw materials are characterized by high and higher refractoriness and low to medium plasticity. They are fired to a whitish to creamy color with occasional spots caused by the presence of pyrite - these spots disappear when treated with a hammer.
KERACLAY, a.s. extracts its refractory clays in two quarries near the village of Nehvizdy. Another quarry is operated directly at its processing plant in the village of Brník. According to geological surveys, the deposits are estimated to last for hundreds of years. The quality of the raw material is perfectly enhanced by selective mining, technological processes, and permanent thorough monitoring of the process, making clays a sought-after product in the company's product portfolio.
